Insurance
Everyone who participates in a Tripleshot club ride must have insurance through Cycling BC or a similar insurer from another provincial cycling body.
Cycling BC insurance provides financial assistance to injured riders for up to one year after an accident, including financial support based on a formula for injuries such as broken bones. It also protects us from being sued.
Uninsured riders have occasionally joined our rides. This is not only against our policies, it could also have serious consequences for our club and its members if something went wrong on a club ride that involved an uninsured rider. Two BC clubs folded in the 2010s because they couldn’t survive financially after uninsured riders got injured and sued the club and the members they were riding with.
If someone new comes out to join a ride, a club member will ask if they have Cycling BC coverage. If they don’t, the new rider can sign an online waiver on the spot, using the Cycling BC waiver link. This will allow them to participate and be temporarily covered. This responsibility is shared. While Ride Leaders usually check for this, any club member can and should verify that all riders are covered or have signed the waiver.
