One of our main sponsors is having an appreciation event. It would be wonderful if club members could show our Appreciation for their support for our rides and clinics. They support the Big Loop, Hurricane Ridge, Three Ferry’s Ride and the women’s clinic.
Thank you for your support and consideration for this event.

Hello club members,
Here is an ask from Capital Bikes to help support this important ride again this year. Our membership has been so supportive the past couple of years.
Below you will find the information to help out with this amazing organization and a meaningful ride. Our club has been a huge support in the past with Capital Bike. This is a fun event, visiting some memorable areas in Victoria to honour the survivors of residential school survivors. Come out and represent our club with this important community event.
Volunteer Request for Capital Bikes September 30, 2024 Truth and Reconciliation Day Ride.
This is from Collen Sparks Executive Director of Capital Bike,
Hello Ride Marshals!
I’m happy to announce that Capital Bike will be hosting the 2024 Truth and Reconciliation Day Ride.
For those of you who have participated in the past, you know what an amazing, meaningful, and powerful way to honour residential school survivors this is.
BIG IMPROVEMENTS FOR 2024
This year, we’ve got a parade permit for the Ride like last year. This means that we will be able to use the entire roadway and we will have police officers doing rolling intersection closures along the route. This means that the entire ride will be protected from automobile traffic and we can focus on what matters most – the ride and residential school survivors.
The Ask
We need 30-35 Ride Marshals! Last year, we had about 500 people come out – and this year, with the Ride being a full parade, we expect more!
What’s really great is that Ride Marshals have an easier job this year. Ride Marshals will be mostly making sure people don’t get lost or left behind. If there’s a medical or safety issue, report that to the Police. No longer will Ride Marshals have to close intersections and block drivers, which will be a big pressure release!
Please sign up to help support Capital Bike’s Reconciliation Ride!
Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on SignUp: https://signup.com/go/ZJWXJMK
2. Click on Reconciliation Day Ride and Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on SignUp)
3. Sign up! SignUp will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!

Good day Tripleshot members, I would like to bring to your attention The District of Oak Bay 2024 capital plan for Henderson Road. Those of us who enjoy Tuesday Sprints around the Uplands Golf Course this forum post is for you.
The link below has the link to the capital plan
https://connect.oakbay.ca/henderson-and-haultain-estevan-cycling-facility-projects
As you can see the one section that concerns us the most especially for Tuesday Sprints is the section from Lansdowne Rd and Foul Bay Rd on Henderson Rd. This small section will have two stop signs and three speed bumps.
Here is the live survey link Until Sep 12 that Oak Bay is asking for feedback. Please fill to help make this Tuesday Ride safer.
https://form.simplesurvey.com/f/s.aspx?s=70cacc55-5640-46e7-935e-824b19fd3073
The board has discussed and thought these points would be good to mention in the survey.
• Reduce the number of speed bumps between Landsdowne and Foul Bay to two or even one. The speed bumps are there to ensure drivers are behaving. But e believe there is not enough car traffic on this stretch for this to be a concern.
• Retain the yield at Henderson and Foul Bay. We believe there is little risk of a driver rolling through this intersection and hitting a cyclist on the Foul Bay bike lane as there is good visibility. We also believe that a yield facilitates a more natural and streamlined bike commute as cyclists will naturally coast through this intersection from Henderson directly into the Foul Bay bike lane. Of course it is also in our interest that the yield be retained so as to not disrupt our regular Tuesday club rides.
Thank you for taking your valuable time and filing in this survey.

Hello Tripleshot Cycling,
I hope you’ve been enjoying the lovely spring weather! My name is Christina, and I’m the Fundraising and Communications Coordinator for Parkinson Wellness Projects (PWP). PWP is a non-profit wellness centre that offers programs and services for the Parkinson’s community here on Vancouver Island.
I’m reaching out to invite Tripleshot Cycling to participate in an exciting and meaningful cycling relay called The Spinning Wheels Relay to End Parkinson’s.
On July 27, PWP will be involved with The Spinning Wheels Relay to End Parkinson’s. During this event, three teams, each including at least one cyclist living with Parkinson’s, will cycle over 10,000 kms across Canada, crossing all provinces, two territories and three coasts in 60 days to raise funds and awareness to help Canadians living with Parkinson’s.
Here are some key details about the event:
• Date: July 27, 2024
• Start Time:10 AM
• Starting Location: At the parking lot of 2680 Blanshard St
• Ending Location: Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal
• Distance: 32.7 KM
A portion of the funds raised in each province will be dedicated to supporting partner charities within that province. These funds will assist in delivering programs and services to help Canadians living with Parkinson’s disease.
We would love to have Tripleshot Cycling join us for this event. Participation can be as a team or as individual cyclists.
Thank you for considering this invitation. We hope to see you on July 27 for a day of cycling, camaraderie, and community spirit, all for a great cause.
Warm regards,
Christina

Date, Start time, and meet-up location
28 July 2024, 0600 am
Victoria, 3180 Douglas Street Starbucks parking lot
About the event
For those of you who are wondering what the heck the Big Loop Ride is, it’s a 260km loop, with 2950 meters of elevation gain that goes from Victoria to Port Renfrew to Lake Cowichan and back to Victoria via the Mill Bay ferry. A designated ride leader for each peloton will purchase the ferry tickets for their entire group and the Club will reimburse them. It is a supported ride and an awesome day in the saddle!
The support vehicle will have food and refreshments supplied by the Club with the following stops:
1st stop - Sooke River Store (corner of Sooke Road and Sooke River Road);
2nd Stop - Jordan River (left-hand side of road, just as you come to the ocean side);
3rd Stop - Port Renfrew (left-hand side opposite Denning Road);
4th Stop - Lake Cowichan Centennial Park (left-hand side of the park); and
5th Stop - Mill Bay Shopping Centre (Thriftys) to get ferry tickets from the designated ride leader for each peloton.
Riders should consider bringing the following items with them (which can be kept in the support vehicle if desired): any tools, tubes, cartridges, etc… to effect repairs; arm warmers; vest and/or light jacket; sunscreen; light snack for in between support vehicle stops; and anything else you may need!
We will roll out in staggered groups from the Alpha/Douglas Street Starbucks at 6:00 am. Ferries back to Victoria depart from Mill Bay at 4:10 and 5:20. From the Brentwood Bay Ferry Terminal, follow your nose home.
