Many thanks Martin. I find the actions of Todd reprehensible and an appalling dereliction of duty of a Board member. If he did not agree with the Boards decision of which he is privileged to be part of, he could resign. Actively campaigning against the decision of the Board and effectively against the organisation of which he is a Board member is appalling. If anyone needs examples of why this organisation struggles on a governance level, it is examples such as this. He clearly has no clue about ethical governance and should resign. Im also curious as to how the "Erin" and CBC detractors see this playing out if they are successful in their wishes and getting her "fired" or, more likely, she resigns. Do they want to go back to the operational Board which had zero oversight financially if there was no Board member with an interest in finances in an elected year (or the time to invest in it)CBC lost all the grants from government Erin has been instrumental in getting back because of the previous model. While the membership may have their views on financial oversight ( often little expertise), the government bureaucracy has fairly stringent standards, none of which CBC met prior to Erin taking over. Its worth noting that when I was elected to the Board, the organisation had been run by an ED with some significant conflicts of interest within cycling and only 3 Board members who still took an interest in the organisation. 2 were on the board specifically to ensure their pet areas (the smallest representations) of Cycling BC were represented. There were little or no Board meetings and the ED didnt often report to the Board as it wasnt really doing anything. Im proud to say that the Board I was elected to, in large part by this club, oversaw the transformation of the governance model in large part due to the work of 3 enthusiastic amateur cyclists who understood governance and who did not have any allegiance to any one part of the organisation. Their only motivation was to see cycling flourish. Rose Keith is a lawyer from Vancouver who was the chair and Willa Kriebel was the vice chair. The organisation owes a huge debt to these two woman as well as Erin for frankly rescuing it and saving it from insolvency. Every year, Cycling BC gets a little stronger and provides a little more for its members. Innoculating itself from the toxic nonsense of folks like Todd should be the memberships next goal and avoiding having what should be routine EGMs and AGMs hijacked by special interest groups annually is the first step towards that. I strongly encourage all members to vote and to vote for the reccomendations of the Board with respect to the fee increase. I am happy to carry proxies if you need me to. I also strongly reccomend that the Tripleshot membership continue to vote members like Martin onto the Board who have the leadership qualities and understanding of governance that others seem to be lacking. Regards, Craig
