And we’re back!

Thanks to updated public health orders and direction from Cycling BC, we are once again able to offer group rides!

We use an app called Spond, that requires riders to sign up for a spot on a ride—limited to 10 riders (or fewer, depending on the ride)—and allows us to record attendance in case we need to assist with contact tracing.

Group rides suspended

We are sad to say that as of December 4, 2020, we have suspended our group rides in order to follow the current provincial health orders.

We will start up again once we are told it is safe to do so. Until then, we hope everyone is able to get out to enjoy the roads and trails in their family bubbles.

Cycling through COVID

Following provincial health orders and guidance from Cycling BC, our club continued cycling safely during the pandemic. In fact, Tripleshot Cycling has grown bigger than ever before, with record numbers of riders trying gravel and trail rides.

We use an app called Spond, that requires riders to sign up for a spot on a ride—limited to 10 riders (or fewer, depending on the ride)—and allows us to record attendance in case we need to assist with contact tracing.

Using Spond has given us some extra benefits as well:

  • We are able to arrange ourselves into groups based on pace/level ahead of time, rather than at the last minute in the parking lot.
  • Riders know ahead of time whether or not someone of their ability will be showing up to ride, something that’s especially important in the dark winter months when our numbers are typically low.
  • For the first time, because of the advanced registration requirement, we have been able to set up different levels of trail rides, based on pace and skill level. After a bit of discussion, we’ve ended up with these fun ride levels: Mild, Medium, Hot and Extra Hot. Some days we even add extras such as Medium-Hot because we have so many riders! We have a dedicated beginner trail ride once a week where an experienced rider leads the group on a gentle route, stopping to introduce and practice skills along the way.

Women’s Group Road Riding & Skills Cycling Clinic – 2020

Sadly, the 2020 Clinic has been cancelled due to COVID-19

Tripleshot Women’s Cycling Clinics are run by women, for women, in Victoria, BC. They are for women with no previous group riding experience who are interested in learning the skills and techniques needed for safe group riding, for those who are already comfortably riding in groups but who want to become faster and more skillful, and for women who are curious to learn techniques to prepare for racing. Now in our 9th year, Tripleshot Women’s Cycling Clinic is holding all levels of the clinic simultaneously.

Register early for the early-bird special price and also to ensure a spot!  Last year, our clinic sold out before the early-bird deadline.

Dates:
April 7 – May 26
8 Tuesday nights, 6 – 7:30pm

For all levels, road bikes or cyclocross bikes with drop bars are required.  We are not able to allow e-bikes or flat handlebar bikes in the clinic because they are not conducive to safe group riding.  This is what drop bars look like:

If you are still uncertain whether or not you have the right kind of bike, please send us a photo of your bike at tripleshotclinic@gmail.com.
